This was a waste of time

This was pretty much worthless. I won't ever ask any of my students to do this. Not that I don't want them writing, but this was not cool, or informative at all. The blog in Black Board would have been easier to use. It's a waste of time to keep registering to an external webpage just to write what one is thinking. If I want to keep it old school I might just have them write in those old black and white journals. There is something missing when one writes in these things. It feels certainly less organic and too scripted. I personally like chicken scratches and writing outside the margins. I understand that this free writing exercise in theory should develop better writing styles, but I fear that verbal communication is missing in today's world.

The Backchannel

The Backchannel emphasizes everything that is wrong with technology and how it can be used inappropriately. Kids bring their laptops into class now, hit the record button, have the computer take notes in MSWword, while they chill out on Facebook and chat with their friends, while it looks like their paying attention. Humans have turned into drones that just need to constantly switch the channel and it's a shame that someone would create a program that essentially allows students to talk to each other and pass notes back and forth while in class. It's even more shameful that the teacher, who is trying to teach, would be the one to endorse this behavior.

Sad day in America.

Day 1

Today I was assigned the task of creating a blog, a task that goes against the very nature of my personality, which is, in short, anti-technology. The answer to your question is indeed still, yes I have a Facebook account, but I use it in a manner to promote to chaos that is the human spirit. My goal when using Facebook is to give those who dare wish to follow me, a reaction to the world that I am encountering in 400 characters or less. My goal here will be to continue that process and transmit to whoever may be reading this, a deeper an more specific insight to my reaction in dealing with today's modern technology.
